Job Description
II. ROLE PURPOSE Assist the Finance Head in achieving overall department objectives towards effective & efficient attainment of company goals. Also responsible for cost accounting functions, treasury functions and accurate and timely payment of taxes. Supervise, train and equip accounting staff, monitor their progress and review their performance. The position also covers responsibility for ensuring complete, accurate and timely recording of company’s business transactions in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), local tax rules and corporate requirements. III. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES A. Cost Accounting 1. Ensure complete, accurate and timely recording of sales and inventory transactions, i.e., finished goods, freight and delivery charges, issuances of samples, sales and cost of sales. 2. Prepare and regularly update product cost sheet accrual if needed. 3. Conduct regular inventory count and reconcile results against balance per books. Ensure that material discrepancies are accounted for and resulting adjustments are recorded in the books. 4. Ensure that allowance for inventory obsolescence is provided on a timely manner for expiring stocks. 5. Process import shipments of all purchases from OSPI affiliates and prepare corresponding cost sheet. B. Treasury 1. Ensure availability of sufficient cash for day-to-day operations. 2. Ensure proper cash management, i.e., excess cash is placed on time deposit. 3. Ensure timely payment of liability to foreign suppliers of inventory. 4. Advise need for new loans as well as settlement of outstanding loans. Ensure timely payment of interest on loans. 5. Ensure prompt collection and deposit of receivables from distributors. 6. Liaise with banks. C. Taxes/Statutory 1. Ensure timely payment of business taxes and permits and annual BIR registration. 2. Ensure timely filing and payment thru EFPS of income and withholding taxes. 3. Handle annual registration of computerized books and ledgers. 4. Preparation of document related to annual audit and BIR audit D. Filing and maintenance of all Journal Vouchers, Subsidiary Ledgers, Schedules, Bank Remittance Notices and other supporting documents necessary to support a certain financial transaction. E. Perform other tasks as may be assigned by superior. IV. In addition to the 13th-month bonus, there is also a 14th-month bonus, which is paid every May. (The 15th-month bonus depends on the company’s performance that year.) Furthermore, our assistant managers and above receive an MBO (up to one month’s basic salary) in March. In addition to the basic salary, there are commuting and meal allowances of 75 pesos per day each (about 3,000 pesos per month), a rice subsidy paid in cash (2,000 pesos per month), and HMO coverage for the employee and up to two dependents.
